The Rockford Area Aerospace Network held the 2019 Aerospace Symposium on Tusday at Giovanni’s Restaurant and Convention Center, at 610 N Bell School Road.

Topics covered included automation, augmented reality, and developing a workforce.

Organizers say the symposium gives companies a chance to learn about changes in the aerospace industry while also expanding their connections.

“It’s a collection of our aerospace companies that are tied to aerospace, right here in Winnebago County,” said Nathan Bryant, President and CEO of the Rockford Area Economic Development Council (RAEDC). “Ninety plus (companies) are tied to aerospace, 250 [of those] are within 90 miles of here. There’s a significant concentration of those types of companies. That business is growing, and we’re growing along with them.”

NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine gave the keynote address.
