Rockford-area hospitals lift visitor restrictions as flu cases subside

As cases of the flu in Northern Illinois begin to subside, hospitals in the Rock River region are lifting restrictions and masking requirements for visitors.

OSF SaintAnthony, Mercyhealth, and SwedishAmerican are working in concert with the Winnebago County Health Department to ease restrictions that were imposed during the height of flu season this past Winter, including limiting access to hospitals to anyone under the age of 18.

The Health Department still reminds people that visitors who are ill should avoid contact with people who are at risk, and to practice proper hygiene by cleaning hands often, covering coughs, and staying home when sick.
