The 2019 National Softball Association World Series will come to Rockford this Summer.
The Rockford Area Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, Visit Beloit, and several other partners made the announcement on Thursday.
The tournament is expected to bring more than 5,000 athletes and guests to the region, along with more than $2 million in spending.
Games will be played in Rockford, Machesney Park, Davis Junction, and Beloit.
RACVB’s President and CEO John Groh says the tournament is a chance for the area to make a good impression on a new set of tourists.
“You often see these visitors or guests in restaurants, in retail,” Groh said. “The kids are often in uniform on their way to a game, or back from a game. Say ‘Welcome!’ Say ‘Thanks for being here!’ Extending that hospitality, rolling out the red carpet a little bit, makes people feel welcome and that is so important in the return.”
The five day tournament kicks off July 17th.
