Rockford Fire investigating second school playground fire


A school playground is destroyed after a fire at a Rockford school.

Rockford Fire received a call around seven Monday evening for reports of the blaze at McIntosh Elementary.

A viewer sent Eyewitness News pictures of the equipment in black smoke.

Crews put-out the fire and no injuries were reported, damage is estimated to be around $157,000.

This is the second fire at a Rockford school playground within three weeks.

No word on if they’re connected, investigators are working to determine a cause.
