Gas prices are still cheap, but not as cheap as they were a week ago according to the gas price monitoring website GasBuddy.com.
They report that average retail gasoline prices in Rockford have risen 11.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $1.62/gal. Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 139 gas outlets in Rockford. That’s far more than national prices have risen, which rose 1.9 cents per gallon to $1.71/gal.
GasBuddy.com reports prices are nearly 70 cents cheaper per gallon than they were one year ago, and still 12.5 cents less expensive than last month.
Compare today’s $1.62/gal. to $3.90/gal. over the same period in 2013, and it’s clear motorists are still catching quite a break.
