Rockford Lutheran School announced on Wednesday that they have purchased the property previously owned by Gloria Dei Lutheran Church to relocate their Pre-K classrooms.

A closing on the property took place June 30. Pre-K classes will begin at the new location in the fall. Members of Gloria Dei will continue to worship at the site with a $1 per year lease for the next 10 years.

“Much of our success is because of our commitment to being a Pre-K through 12th grade school,” said Pastor Rob James, Chair of the Rockford Lutheran Board. “The opportunity to purchase Gloria Dei Lutheran Church allows us to invest more fully in our Pre-K through 5th grade students and families.”

The Rockford Lutheran Preschool was previously housed at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church on Alpine.

“Bringing preschool onto the elementary campus and making new spaces available for enrichment programs will strengthen the schools ability to provide a seamless Pre-K through 12 curriculum,” a spokesperson for Rockford Lutheran said in a news release.
