Rockford man arrested for aiming laser pointer at aircraft

45-year-old Brenton Wells was arrested Friday on the charge of aiming a beam of a laser pointer at an aircraft.

Laser pointers can cause temporary flash blindness to pilots during critical takeoffs and landings.

According to the indictment, Wells is accused of pointing a laser pointer at an aircraft and the flight path of an aircraft on December 6th.

Wells is facing a pentalty of up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 if convicted.
