Rockford man arrested for home invasion, beating ex-girlfriend

30-year-old Renard Macklin was arrested Saturday for allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home, threatening her with a gun and beating her.

Rockford Police say they were called to the 700 block of Kent Street shortly after 5 a.m. Saturday morning.

Police say a 25-year-old woman and a 30-year-old woman were outside a residence when Macklin arrived.

Macklin’s ex-girlfriend ran inside the home and said Macklin forced his way inside. He was allegedly armed with a handgun at the time. Police say he made threats and beat her. The victim’s injuries were minor.

Less than an hour later, police arrested Macklin at a motel in the 3900 block of 11th Street.

He was charged with Home Invasion and Domestic Battery.

Macklin was taken to the Winnebago County Jail.
