25-year-old Kevon Dukes, of Rockford, was arrested Tuesday making a false report of a stabbing.

Rockford Police say they’ve received several false 9-1-1 calls over the past several weeks. The practice is commonly known as “swatting,” where a person sends police to someone else’s house with a false report.

Police say the call came in around 11 p.m. Once officers determined the call to be false, they identified Dukes and arrested him in the 800 block of North Court Street.

According to police, Dukes damaged an interview room at the police station.

He was charged with Criminal Damage to Government Property and Misuse of 9-1-1.

Police say they are investigating whether Dukes is involved in other false 9-1-1 cases. He was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.
