A Rockford man has been arrested for a murder committed in September.
Police used a SWAT team along with several officers to take 23-year-old Demario Thompson into custody Friday at his apartment at the Halsted Park Apartment Complex in the 2900 block of Conklin Drive. He surrendered without incident, and is being held on a $1,500,000 bond.
Prosecutors issued a warrant for his arrest on 1st Degree Murder Charges for the shooting death of 22-year-old Lanair Jones-Sullivan, who was killed September 27th in the 1400 block of Birch Court in the Blackhawk public housing complex. The Coroner’s office says Jones-Sullivan died of a gunshot wound to the head and was also shot a few times in his torso.
“This arrest is the result of the Rockford Police Department’s dedicated commitment to bring violent offenders to justice,” said Rockford Police Chief Dan O’Shea in a statement.
