A months-long investigation leads to the arrest of a man on predatory criminal sexual assault of a child charges.
Back in June of last year, Rockford Police were notified about a possible sexual assault of a child under the age of 13. Subsequently, they investigated those allegations and DNA evidence eventually linked a suspect to the crime.
As a result, Andrew Jones, 29, was arrested and charged. At the time the warrant was issued for his arrest, Jones was already in the custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections on an unrelated charge.
Jones has since been transferred to the Winnebago County Jail where he was served the warrant.
