Rockford Man Murdered During Friday Morning Home Invasion

A man is dead and two suspects are on the loose after a home invasion Friday morning in Rockford.

Police say it happened around 6:30 a.m. in the 400 block of S. Henrietta Avenue. When officers arrived to the home, they found a 24-year-old male resident dead from a gunshot wound. A second resident, a 22-year-old female, was not hurt.

Detectives are currently conducting a follow-up investigation. The men they believe are responsible are only described as two black males in their 20s. One is said to be 5’9”, 200 pounds, large build. The other 5’9”, 170 pounds, small build.

The homicide marks Rockford’s fourth murder of 2018 and the third this week.
