Rockford, Ill. – A second man has been sentenced to federal prison for an armed robbery at a Rockford cell phone store.

U.S. District Judge Philip G. Reinhard sentenced Ricky Woods, 23, to 30 months for the robbery and 84 months for using a firearm during a crime of violence.  He pled guilty to the charges in September.

Woods and McKinley Hoarde, III were both convicted to pointing guns at the employee at the U.S. Cellular store on E. State Street on June 1, 2016.  One of the men grabbed the employee and forced him to the back of the store and ordered him to the ground.  Woods and Hoarde stole phones and were able to disable the security system before running out of the store.

Hoarde plead guilty to the robbery and gun charge earlier this year and was sentenced to 150 months in prison for his part in the crime.
