Rockford man wanted for beating his ex-girlfriend in home invasion

Police are searching for a Rockford man wanted for beating an ex-girlfriend in a home invasion.

The Rockford Police Department say officers were sent to an east side home shortly after 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 2nd for the report of a domestic violence incident.

Police say a woman had been battered by her ex-boyfriend, James Smith-Johnson, 22, of Rockford, after he forced his way inside her home. She suffered minor injuries in the incident.

Smith-Johnson is wanted on charges of Home Invasion, Aggravated Domestic Battery, Domestic Battery and Criminal Trespass.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Rockford Police Department or CrimeStoppers.
