Rockford man wanted for four robberies arrested in Mississippi

A Rockford man wanted for a series of armed robberies was arrested Friday in Jackson, Mississippi.

Janathan Turner was identified as a suspect in four robberies that all occurred on Tuesday, December 11th, 2018.

The first reported armed robbery was at Boost Mobil, 3201 Auburn Street, shortly before 7 p.m., where they learned a male suspect robbed the business of money.

Then, at 7:20 p.m., the S&H Tobacco store, at 2744 11th Street, was robbed by a similarly described suspect.

Shortly before 8 p.m., Discount Tobacco and Pantry, at 615 South Rockford Avenue, was robbed by an armed suspect who demanded money and cigarettes, and then fled the store.

And finally, at around 8:10 p.m., police say the Little Caesar’s Pizza location at 3108 North Rockton Avenue was robbed by an armed assailant.

Turner has been charged with four counts of Armed Robbery.

He is awaiting extradition to Winnebago County.

“Violent crimes like the armed robberies committed last month will not be tolerated,” said Chief Dan O’Shea in a statement. “We, in conjunction with our local and federal law enforcement partner agencies, will utilize all of our resources to bring individuals to justice who commit these senseless acts.”
