Rockford Muslims celebrated the end of their month of fasting.
The Muslim Association of Greater Rockford held a Ramadan celebration Wednesday morning at Sportscore 2. During Ramadan, Muslims fast from sun up to sun down to atone for their sins. They say it’s a tough month, but a rewarding one once it’s over.
“At the end of 30 days, you thank God that you were able to do all 30 days and then God has given you so many blessings that you can go back to eating and drinking again,” said Shahie Naseer of the Muslim Association of Greater Rockford.
At the end of each during Ramadan, Muslims also pray for an extensive period of time before sleeping.
