If you’re looking for the best place to spend a weekend getaway in Illinois, you need look no further than Rockford, according to The Active Times.

The vacation and fitness publication singled out one vacation destination per state, which includes the Grand Canyon in Arizona, Napa Valley in California, Walt Disney World in Florida…and Rockford in Illinois.

The site writes, “Nestled along the banks of the Rock River is Rockford, a vibrant and historic city in Illinois. Springtime offers a variety of recreational opportunities from kayaking to stand-up paddleboarding, wakeboarding, canoeing, biking, swimming and more. The city is home to more than 10,000 acres of natural and recreational areas. Visit one of Rockford’s newest attractions, West Rock Wake Park; take the kids to the Discovery Center Children’s Museum; and indulge in the beauty of the Anderson Japanese Gardens. When you’re hungry visit the Rockford City Market, which takes place every Friday from Memorial Day through the end of October.”
