Rockford native, fashion designer Virgil Abloh gifts soccer uniforms to Boylan players

News

The seniors on the Boylan Titans soccer team received a surprise graduation gift on Wednesday courtesy of fashion company Louis Vuitton.

Virgil Abloh, a Class of ’98 graduate of Boylan and current artistic director for Louis Vuitton gave his alma mater black and white soccer jerseys.

Abloh worked with Nike to design his first ever soccer uniform.

One graduating soccer player said it’s great that Abloh hasn’t forgotten his Rockford roots.

“It’s awesome to see that he cares about us,” said senior Michael Kozlowski. “I just found out he played soccer…and that surprised me. I had no idea he played soccer. It’s awesome he’s giving back now. It’s crazy.”

The uniforms go on sale to the public next month. Players who participated in Boylan’s after-school soccer session also received free uniforms.
