Local kids who won’t be able to stay up until the New Year, got a Celebration of their own Monday.
The Rockford Park District held a “Noon Year’s Eve” event Monday afternoon at Carlson Ice Arena, 4150 North Perryville Road in Loves Park. Families were invited to enjoy ice skating, music food, and fun inside Sapora Playworld. The event included it’s own countdown and ballon drop. Organizers say it’s a great option for young kids who won’t make it to midnight.
“Instead of having something at midnight, it’s something at noon for the kids. It’s really important to us to just have families come out and support play world.” said Eric Brown of Carlson Ice Arena. “It’s great for the younger kids with ice skating. So it’s just something the community can come out and enjoy.”
This was the third year for “Noon Year’s Eve.”
