K9 Kilo, a Belgian Malinois who has been with the Rockford Park District since 2014, will receive a stab and bullet proof vest thanks to a charitable donation.

The Park District announced the donation Tuesday morning.

The vest is sponsored by Creston and Victoria Rabtoy of South Burlington, Vermont and provided by Vested Interests in K9s, Inc.

“Kilo is my sidekick, and has been a huge help to our department as he is trained to guard, smell, protect, and defend.  We wear body armor daily, so I am very happy that our four-legged officer will also be protected,” said Josh Strand, Rockford Park District K9 Officer.
