Rockford Police asking for donations to make handout warming kits

News

The Rockford Police Department is looking for help to help others keep warm during the frigid temperatures predicted for the Stateline area.

The department is collecting hand warmers, socks, gum and tissues.

Those items go into kits that officers will be handing out to those in need.

The program was started by an officer and his family several years ago, and they have been preparing the kits ever since.

Donations can be dropped off at any of the three district police stations: District One, 1045 W. State Street, District Two, at 1410 Broadway, or District 3 at 557 S. New Towne Drive.
