Rockford Police Department swears in five new officers

News

Rockford Police have five new officers after being sworn in Thursday afternoon.

The officers Brendan Moore, Jordan Brickson, Jacob Ditzler, Frank Fabiani, and Lathaniel Best-Jordan were presented their new badges at a ceremony that took place at the District 1 headquarters, at 1045 W. State Street.

Three citizens were also recognized, including Elijah Lowry, who volunteered with youth program last summer.

“By volunteering, Elijah gave up his personal time during the months of June, July and August to be at these events,” Chief Dan O’Shea said. “He was a role model to all the children and he greatly assisted with the younger kids at the events. His ability to gain immediate rapport and directly interact with the kids at the events contributed to the overall great success of the programs.”

Two officers were also given the Medal of Lifesaving for giving CPR to a driver who may have overdosed last month.
