ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Officers from the Rockford Police Department are handing out free backpacks full of school supplies to eligible students today, Wednesday, at their District 1 Headquarters.
Rockford Police Officers Association are handing out bookbags to kids enrolled in kindergarten through 6th grade. The first opportunity was held earlier today, at Living Faith Tabernacle.
The second opportunity will be from between 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at District 1 Headquarters, 1045 W State Street.
Police say that, in total, 350 backpacks will be handed out, which include notebooks, folder, pencils, glue sticks and a pencil box. Children must be present at the time to receive the backpacks.
