ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Law enforcement officers across Northern Illinois honored the lives of those lost in the line of duty on Friday.
Rockford Police joined several other stateline agencies at a community event at CherryVale Mall to remember fallen members of the force.
The event included a showcase of new equipment, K9 demonstrations, and free fingerprinting.
Officers say that the day was an opportunity to foster relationships with the communities they serve.
“With this week (National Police Week) being here, this is a great time for the community to come out and hang out with us, and see we’re just like regular people, like anybody else, and we like to have a lot of fun,” said RPD Officer Lisa Hodges.
