UPDATE: Police are still investigating both a crash and a drive-by shooting just blocks apart.
Saturday, around 7pm, officers responded to the area of Ridge and Ashland to a report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers located several shell casings in the roadway.
Witnesses in the area telling police they saw a black SUV and another silver colored vehicle traveling northbound in the 1100 block of Ridge.
Someone inside the black SUV shooting at the silver vehicle.
While officers were investigating that scene, they got a call to a traffic crash at Auburn and Ridge.
Officers arrived to find a silver vehicle that had crashed into a tow truck.
They saw it had several bullet holes and were able to determine it was fleeing from the initial shooting.
The driver, a 28 year old man, and his passenger, a 25 year old woman, told police they were driving northbound on ridge when they heard gunshots and immediately realized they were being shot at.
They told police they do not know who the shooter is, or why they were being shot at.
Only the passenger of the silver vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
There are no arrests at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.

Police can’t say for sure at this time if the two incidents are related, or if anyone was hit by gunfire.
