ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police responded to a shooting that took place Tuesday afternoon at 2:40 p.m. near E. State Street and 6th street.
Police say shots were fired between two vehicles as they were driving down 6th Street.
Two people, one 30-year-old male and one 30-year-old female, were in the blue car as the were struck by gunfire. Police said the male has life-threatening injuries, while the female has non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the other car was a black four-door car, and was last seen driving southbound on 6th Street.
Surveillance footage obtained by Eyewitness News shows a car that matches that description heading southbound on 6th Street at the time of the shooting.
The investigation is active and on-going, according to authorities.
Authorities are asking anyone with information on the incident or the whereabouts of the back vehicle should contact Rockford Police at 815-966-2900, or leave an anonymous tip with Rockford Area Crime Stoppers at 815-963-7867.
