Rockford Police search for suspect in Monday afternoon armed robbery

Rockford Police are searching for a black male in his early 20’s, 5’10”, 160 lbs with a short haircut and a red “M” tattoo on his throat.

Police say the suspect robbed a 20-year-old victim on Monday afternoon.

According to police, they received the call around 1:15 p.m. on March 25th, and responded to the 1100 block of 5th Avenue.

Police say the victim said he was riding in a red minivan with a group of other people when the female driver pulled over, and the male passenger drew a gun and robbed the victim of his money, cell phone and other belongings.

The victim was able to get out of the van and was not hurt. 

Police say the victim knew the suspect, and the crime was not random.
