Rockford Police name 22-year-old Donald Ashford as a suspect behind a pair of back-to-back crimes in the city, Saturday.  He was also driving a gold Buick LaSabre, but Rockford Police would not confirm that he is the mall shooting suspect as well. Eyewitness News is now awaiting comment from Cherry Valley Police to confirm the suspects are one in the same, however the department’s administrative office is closed until Monday.

Rockford Police responded to a shooting incident around 4, Saturday afternoon at Fremont Street and Fulton Avenue. When officers tried to pull over the gold Buick, they say Ashford fled.

A few minutes later, police responded to a hit and run accident involving the same vehicle at New Towne Drive and State Street. When the crash victim tried to follow the suspect vehicle to get information, Ashford allegedly fired off several shots.

No one was hurt.

Ashford is wanted on charges of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Aggravated Fleeing to Elude.
