Rockford schools hope for long-term benefit of new partnership with Erikson Institute

News

Transform Rockford, Alignment Rockford and the Rockford Public Schools announced a partnership with the Erikson Insitute on Friday, in hopes of changing school policy and setting up the city’s future.

The Erikson Institute takes a population-based approach to assess the school readiness of kids five-years-old and younger.

Transform Rockford’s Executive Director David Sydney said, “This kind of information is going to better inform [our] decisions, so we know that, when we make an investment in neighborhoods, new development fuels expansion of new neighborhoods, that this is directly tied into the positive experiences that students and families have in our communities.”

The Erikson Institute was created in the 1990’s at a Canadian University.
