Rockford Student Competing in National Spelling Bee


While Rockford kids get ready for the beginning of summer, one 7th grader began his journey to a national title.

Kodai Sepich attends Marshall Middle School.  He’s one of more than a dozen students representing Illinois at the Scripps National Spelling Bee.  Kodai spelled, “acclimatization” correctly in the 3rd round.  Finals begin Thursday morning on ESPN2 and continue tomorrow night.  Students from DeKalb and Freeport are also competing.
