Students and their supporters from across the stateline will be participating in the Rockford March for Our Lives demonstration on Saturday.
The march will be running concurrently with similar March for Our Lives events nationwide. The marches hope to raise awareness of the student perspective on the national issue of gun safety, following the deadly shooting at the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida.
The march will take place in downtown Rockford at 1 p.m., on Saturday, March 24th, beginning at Beattie Park.
The Rockford March for Our Lives was organized by local students in concert with #NeverAgain, an organization comprised of survivors of the Parkland shooting, with planning assistance from the non-profit organization Everytown for Gun Safety.
Two of the local student organizers, Roberto Vargas, from Jefferson, and Sarah Grall from Auburn, spoke with Eyewitness News’ Jay Leonardi on Wednesday morning’s news.
