Not only is Sunday both April Fools’ Day and Easter, but in the State of Illinois there’s another holiday celebrated on April 1st – Cheap Trick Day.
Cheap Trick Day has been a holiday for the past 10 years and the band is still going strong, touring all over the country and in the U.K.
“We didn’t depend on one song or two songs, we depended on playing the whole night,” said guitarist Rick Nielsen. “We could do it. We didn’t have tapes, we didn’t have any of that stuff. We just played and learned how to be a live band. I tell people I haven’t rehearsed since 1969, or something like that.”
Nielsen says all it takes to celebrate Cheap Trick Day is to listen to a song and spend some time with family.
