The YMCA of the Rock River Valley kicked off an annual fundraising event on Thursday, with the goal of raising $1.3 million for the humanitarian organization.
The event was held at the Nordloff Center, at 118 N Main Street.
The YMCA raised a litte over $1 million during last year’s fundraiser.
The campaign aims to raise awareness of the programs the Y does with youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
“What it’s really about is making dreams come true, about bridging the divides in our community, about making things available to people that would not otherwise be available,” said Chief Advancement Officer Michelle Gorham.
