ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police investigated a shooting on Tuesday.
It happened around 1 p.m. in the 400 block of S. 5th Street. Crime scene tape was up around a house, along with 10 squad cars and a K9.
A neighbor said that they heard someone screaming, ending with a loud boom.
Police said they were initially called to the 500 block of College Avenue where someone had been shot. When officers arrived, they learned the shooting had happened on S. 5th Street, where the second victim was found.
The victims were a teen boy and an adult woman, police said. Both were said to have suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect barricaded himself in a house there for several hours.
SWAT teams were called to the scene as the event unfolded, and witnesses said they could hear police instructing someone barricaded inside a house to come out with their hands up.

Police asked residents to avoid the area while they investigate.
At 7:32 p.m, Rockford Police said the suspect, an adult man, was taken into custody but did not release further information.
