Rockford’s holiday garbage collection schedule

The City of Rockford has posted a schedule of garbage pick up and household waste site schedules, adjusted for Christmas and New Year’s.

Christmas Week (December 24 – December 28, 2018)
Garbage collection on Monday, December 24, will not be effected. There will be no garbage collection on Tuesday, December 25. Collection will be delayed by one day for Tuesday and the balance of the week. Residents that normally have garbage pick-up on Tuesday will have their collection occur on Wednesday and so on through the subsequent days of the week.

New Year’s Week (December 31, 2018 – January 4, 2019)
Garbage collection on Monday, December 31, will not be effected. There will be no garbage collection on Tuesday, January 1, 2019. Collection will be delayed by one day for Tuesday and the balance of the week. 
 
Household Hazardous Waste Collection Site
There will be no changes in the standard hours for the Household Hazardous Waste site at 3333 Kishwaukee Street.  The site will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays. 

Electronic Waste Recycling
Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful’s Rockford Recycling Center, located at 4665 Hydraulic Road, will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, December 22.  The facility will remain closed during the holiday weeks and open once again on Saturday, January 5, 2019. Please visit KNIB’s webpage at https://www.knib.org/ for a comprehensive list of electronics and other recyclables currently being accepted.
