Organizers announced the 2018 Midtown District’s Annual Ethnic Festival and Parade on Wednesday, which will take place on Sunday, August 26th.
The festival will include music and dance from a variety of cultural backgrounds, along with games and crafts for kids, and a beer garden for adults — along with a variety of ethnic foods.
Organizers of the event say they already have 50 different ethnic groups involved but are always looking for more.
“In this region, we are very dense,” said Dori Kearney of the Midtown District Association. “We don’t really recognize that in a big way. So, when those people are coming down the parade and people are ‘yaying’ for them, and their faces are beaming because they feel a part of the community, that’s what’s important.”
This will be the festival and parade’s 5th year. It will begin at 1 p.m. on August 26 on the grounds of the Rockford Public School District Administration Building, 501 7th Street in Rockford.
