Rockford’s Quad Con comic and toy convention draws lovers of pop culture

News

The Rockford Riverfront Museum park hosted a Rockford comic convention this weekend as Quad Con brought lovers of pop culture to downtown.

Individuals interested in science fiction, video games, board games and vintage toys showed up to peruse the wares of several vendors, but the highlight of the event were cosplayer in elaborate, usually homemade costumes.

Quad-Con coordinator John Wells said, “The amount of work that was in this was probably hundreds of hours and so that was really impressive…You can just tell the amount of work that went into it, and that’s what we all appreciate is when people do all this work just to come out and show it off to other fans.”

In addition to giving people a chance to buy and sell their favorite memoralbilia, it also helped to raise money for children suffering from heart defects through charity donations.
