Rockton Ave. home almost burns down when residents accidently set the porch on fire.

A quick response from Rockford Fire keeps a blaze from taking a Rockton Avenue home.
Around 5:30pm Sunday evening, responders were called to the 700 block of North Rockton Avenue, located about a block south of Wells Park.  Fire fighters say the fire happened on the back porch of the home.  It started when people in the house were burning things, and that fire quickly got out of control and threatened to take the house.  Thanks to a quick response time, the flames were contained to the porch, with minor damage to the kitchen. Residents are able to stay in the home, and no one was injured.
