Roscoe Police warn of ‘possibly armed’ suspect wanted for home invasion, sexual assault charges

Roscoe Police are warning the public of a dangerous individual wanted for home invasion and sexual assault after allegedly abducting a woman from her Winnebago County home.

Police say officers responded to the 5900 block of McDonald Road for a possible abduction. There, they met with a female victim suffering from head injuries.

Police say the suspect, Matthew Harkey, 43, had abducted the woman from her home in Winnebago County. 

Investigators say she was able to escape her captor.

Harkey faces charges of Home Invasion, Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault, Unlawful Restraint, and Residential Burglary.

Police say he is possibly armed and could be driving a silver Nissan Rogue with Illinois plate number FP65916 or a red Mitsubishi Lancer with Illinois plate number BA36134.

Anyone with information on Harkey’s whereabouts is urged to call 9-1-1.
