Another local face joins one of the Governor-elect’s transition teams. JB Pritzker named Rosecrance president and CEO Philip Eaton part of the Healthy Children and Families committee.
“It is very exciting to have a seat at the table and to try to help shape the start right out of the blocks,” said Eaton.
The team will focus on making sure Illinois residents have access to the resources to lead healthy lives. Rosecrance alone treated nearly 40,000 people last year for substance abuse and mental health issues. Efforts include identifying federal funding streams, policy opportunities and initiatives.
“We believe that matters such as this, as well as suicide prevention, mental health services for individuals who struggle in our community should be a priority.”
Also a concern across the state is the opioid crisis, including here in the Stateline. Eaton says Pritzker has assured him Rockford will be well represented in this administration.
“That is certainly something that we’re definitely looking forward to try to assist in and support those efforts in this community,” said Eaton. “Particularly from the Rosecrance view, we are very, very concerned and committed to providing treatment services.”
This isn’t the first time the Rosecrance leader has been part of a transition team. In the past, Eaton worked with former Governors Rod Blagojevich and Jim Edgar.
“I will tell you, I’m very encouraged in what I hear from Juliana Stratton and JB Pritzker in terms of their openness to collaboration.”
Eaton says the Healthy Children and Families transition team will meet Wednesday to finalize it’s priorities to share with Governor-elect Pritzker and Lieutenant Governor-elect Juliana Stratton.
