Rockford Fire crews battled a blaze caused by a ruptured gas line on Saturday.

It happened at around 4 a.m. on Blackhawk Ave., just off Rt. 2, north of Klehm Arboretum. In photos taken by Rockford Fire, you can see flames shooting up out of the ground behind a home.

Firefighters stayed on scene with Nicor Gas crews until the leak could be fixed. No one was hurt.
