Ryan, Congress Working On National Opioid Response

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R) is backing a bipartisan effort to address the country’s epidemic of opioid drug abuse.

The Janesville representative announced Wednesday that Congress is working with President Obama to craft a national response.  Ryan pointed out that opioid abuse can happen anywhere at any time.

“This epidemic doesn’t discriminate,” said Ryan.  “It’s not about politics, it’s personal.  This can happen to anyone.  It can tear apart any family and tear apart any community.  In Wisconsin… more people die from drug overdoses than they die from traffic accidents.”

Ryan also took some time again to say he won’t be running for president.
