Thousands in the stateline have been affected by recent flooding. Some have been forced to leave their homes. Now, the waters are receding, leaving behind a mess for residents when they return.
To help lessen the burden, the Salvation Army set up several stations in the affected areas to hand-out clean-up kits stocked with mops, brooms, gloves, masks, bleach and other solutions. The clean-up kits are to help get home owners started.
The Salvation Army’s assistance goes more than just providing clean-up kits. They’re providing additional help as well.
“Later on after they’ve assessed damage and clean-up is really underway, then people will be able to come to our social service office, perhaps with some greater needs,” Winnebago County Coordinator for the Salvation Army Mark Martsolf said. “Maybe they’re in need of some furniture replacement and we’ll be able to help with thrift store vouchers.”
All supplies given were donated by members of the community.
