UPDATE:  Eleven ambulances from several counties responded to a school bus crash near Belvidere.

The accident occurred along Orth and Beloit roads in Boone County between a car and the school bus. The school bus was traveling northbound on Orth Rd. when it was struck by a four door passenger car going westbound on Beloit Rd, that appears to have failed to yield.

Belvidere Superintendent Dan Woestman said there were 32 middle school students on the bus from the Belvidere school district.  Several students were injured and taken to local hospitals for treatment, but none of their injuries are considered to be serious.

The driver of the car was not hurt.

Sheriff David Ernest from The Boone County Sheriffs Department said they are still investigating the cause of the accident but it doesn’t appear the driver was at fault.
