Seniors pack the house for resurrected Rockford Police bingo

Bingo is back! It was a packed house at the Rockford Police District One headquarters on Friday, where the department restarted it’s monthly Bingo with Seniors event.

Officers say the game is a great way to connect with Rockford’s 55-and-older residents.

The bingo sessions became very competitive.

“There’s a lot of trash-talking back and forth, with people playing,” said Assistant Deputy Chief Andre Brass. “They’re a very spirited group to come in and play with us, so it’s good to hear them laughing and having a good time. So, we appreciated it, too. It gives back to us, too. We get a good feeling about it, too.”

Bingo with police isn’t just about fun and games; each event includes a talk, with important topics such as finance, retirement and health.

The next bingo game will take place March 29th.
