Rockford Police held a promotion and award ceremony Wednesday afternoon to promote three officers to the rank of Investigator.

Officer Carl Bergstrom was awarded a letter of commendation for recovering 23 illegal firearms, eight of which were recovered in 2018.

Officers Matthew Williams and Charles Keene were awarded community service medals for their “Rolling Strong” 10-week bicycle repair program for at-risk youth.

Detective Bryce Lambrecht was promoted to Sergeant.

“It’s nice to get back on the streets,” Lambrecht said. “I haven’t been in a marked car in a while, but getting back out with the younger guys, who are eager and doing a great job of policing, and getting to hand down some of the knowledge I’ve attained over the years, and just getting back out there and working with the community… I’m really looking forward to it.”

Rockford Police Chief Dan O’Shea said, “The officers being honored with awards show how committed Rockford officers are to the community as they watch and serve.”
