A law firm representing three alleged victims of sexual abuse within the Catholic church will hold a news conference in Chicago Thursday announcing a lawsuit against every Catholic Diocese and Bishop in Illinois, including the Diocese of Rockford.

Jeff Anderson & Associates says the lawsuit being filed alleges the “maintenance of a public nuisance” and a “conspiracy to conceal a public hazard” by failing to disclose the names and files of clergy accused of child sexual abuse.

The victims and their advocates will speak specifically about the Diocese of Rockford at the 11 a.m. news conference, and their “failure to act on allegations of sexual abuse.” They allege the diocese has conducted “deceptive practices” regarding the sexual abuse allegations.

The victims are demanding the full disclosure of all credibly accused offenders in the Diocese of Rockford, as well as the Dioceses of Springfield and Belleville.

Thursday’s news conference is being held at the downtown Chicago Marriott at 11 a.m.
