Levings Park in Rockford is where Sharefest 2017 chose to start the restoration upgrade to bring it back to its glory. Sharefest, founded in 2007, is a non-profit group, composed of volunteers, who take on renovation projects throughout the city.
The site leader, Joe Vettore, says they’ve cut down the trees that have been infected with Ash Borer so far, and are planting new trees in place of them. Part of the upgrade also includes filtering out the lake and repainting the benches.
People can volunteer through this Saturday, June 9th.
