Rockford, Ill. (WTVO) — A 16-year-old teen was hit in the neck and is in critical condition after a shooting on Irving Avenue Friday night.

According to Rockford Police, officers were called to the scene of the shooting in the 1100 block of Irving and found the victim, who said he had been walking near Irving and Arthur Avenues when he was shot.

The victim was able to tell police that he heard someone call out to him, heard one gunshot, and then realized he’d been hit.

The teen ran to a house nearby and called for assistance.
