St. Baldricks, the head-shaving event looks to raise funds and awareness for lifesaving childhood cancer research and a fundraiser was held at Brewsky’s in Rockford.
On Saturday, their goal was to raise $15,000. Volunteers came in to help set up, and work the silent auction. Many came in with long locks and left with their hair chopped off, but it was all for a good cause. Rockford’s St. Baldrick’s Organizer Alex Masters says this cause is near and dear to the hearts of many.
“They’re doing it for their mom, their son their daughter,” said Masters. “There are survivors and some have passed on, and that’s what the people are here doing this for.”
